Short answer

Online Quran classes are live video lessons in which one teacher teaches one learner. After a free trial to assess the level, you agree a weekly schedule in your timezone, and each lesson combines reading to the teacher, correction, new material and a short practice task.

1. The enquiry

You fill in a short form with the learner's age, the course you are interested in and how to contact you. If you are not sure which course is right, you can say so.

2. Agreeing a trial time

The team contacts you by WhatsApp or email and suggests a trial time in your own timezone. Families in the USA, UK, Canada, Australia, the Gulf and Europe all book in local time.

3. The free trial lesson

In the trial the teacher gets to know the learner, checks their current reading level and shows how lessons work. Parents of younger children usually sit in. There is no obligation to continue.

4. Choosing a schedule

After the trial you choose the course and how many lessons a week suit your family. Fees depend on the course and number of lessons, and are shared after the trial.

5. A typical lesson

  • A short revision of the previous lesson
  • The learner reads aloud while the teacher listens closely
  • Mistakes are corrected straight away, with the correct sound modelled
  • New letters, words or verses are introduced
  • The teacher sets a small amount of practice

6. Supervision and records

At QuranClassOnline, lessons are delivered through our own MAKTAB learning platform. Every lesson is supervised by our floor administration team and recorded as part of our accountability process.

7. Following progress

Parents of children receive a monthly PDF progress report. You can also contact the team between reports by WhatsApp or email.

Quran Reading

Noorani Qaida with Tajweed, Lesson 1: The Single Letters (Mufradat), Part A

The first video in our Noorani Qaida series. It introduces the single Arabic letters (Mufradat) one at a time, the very first step towards reading the Quran, and gives parents and beginners a clear feel for how our teachers explain each stage before you book a free trial. Parents can watch it with their child to see what the very first stage of reading looks like and how letters are introduced one by one. In live lessons the same first stage is taught one-to-one, with the teacher listening to the learner and correcting pronunciation straight away, so mistakes do not become habits. When the single letters are secure, learners move on to joined letters, vowel marks and, in time, fluent Quran reading.
