Learn to Recite Surah Al-Falaq with Tajweed

Surah Al-Falaq is one of the most powerful supplications in the Holy Quran, teaching believers to seek refuge in Allah from all forms of visible and hidden harm. In this lesson, students learn correct Tajweed, pronunciation, and rhythm to recite Surah Al-Falaq accurately and confidently.

MU’AWWIDHATAYN

Surah Al-Falaq (113) and Surah An-Naas (114) are collectively known as Mu’awwidhatayn, meaning “the two Surahs in which refuge with Allah is sought.”

Imam Baihaqi (in Dala’il an-Nubuwwat) has stated that these two Surahs were revealed together, which is why they are commonly referred to by this combined name.

Although they are written separately in the Mushaf, their subject matter and purpose are deeply connected.

HISTORICAL CONTEXT OF REVELATION

When the Holy Prophet Muhammad ﷺ began openly preaching Islam in Makkah, opposition from the Quraysh intensified. After all attempts of compromise failed—and especially after Surah Al-Kafirun made the message clear—the hostility reached extreme levels.

CONDITIONS OF REVELATION

When the Holy Prophet Muhammad ﷺ began preaching Islam in Makkah, opposition from the Quraysh intensified rapidly. After all attempts at compromise failed—and especially after the clear declaration in Surah Al-Kafirun—the hostility reached its extreme level.

Abu Jahl once described this rivalry:

“We and the Bani Abd Manaf were rivals… Now they claim a Prophet inspired from heaven. How can we compete with them? By God, we will never acknowledge him.”

It was under these harsh conditions that Allah revealed Surah Al-Falaq as a divine protection and refuge.
